This is a rare, very desirable, very collectable necklace by the famous Eugene Joseff, aka Joseff of Hollywood. Joseff began his career as a fine jewelry designer, but moving to Hollywood he quickly found work designing jewelry for films that were historically accurate. He also developed his signature “Russian Gold-Plating” which cut the glare on camera but still gave the look of gold. Joseff made jewelry for The Wizard of Oz, Cleopatra, Gone With The Wind and Breakfast At Tiffany’s to name a few.
This gorgeous piece is finished in his Russian gold-plate. Its a big, bold statement piece, unique and beautiful, stylish and spiritual. The little Buddha hangs from the backing so it will sway as you move. I haven’t handled many Joseff pieces so I am not by any means an expert, but I do believe the gold is in very good condition with an intentional matte finish. I believe the O ring that serves for the clasp is a replacement as it is silver an not gold. Otherwise the necklace seems to be in original condition.
